I founded Drake Strategy Partners so that I could say these things out loud to my clients when they need to hear them (these are actual quotes from client and nonprofit work, thank you very much). Our efforts to be "good people" are often stymied by our inability to face the systems that actually make life hard for the people we want to serve. But without owning up to the ways in which some of our tried and true practices actually perpetuate harm -- especially against black people, other people of color, LGBTQIA folks, immigrants, poor people, disabled people -- we can't fix the problems we say we want to fix. 

I am a partner who will give it to you straight, with love. I've lost clients for saying these things out loud. I've found clients that stick with me for the long haul because I say these things out loud. And I think that's exactly how it should be.
